Specialist ground drainage.

Land drainage, soakaways, surface-water systems and service runs, set out and installed cleanly across rural, domestic and commercial sites by our own crews and plant.

Ground Drainage

Water in the wrong place spoils a build, so we move it to the right place and leave the ground dry.

Ground drainage is a specialism in its own right, and it is one we know inside out. SFS Groundworks designs and installs land drainage, soakaways, surface-water systems, ducting and service runs, with more than twenty years of experience under our belts.

From a single waterlogged garden to drainage for a multi-phase development, we set the falls, dig clean trenches, lay and connect the pipework and reinstate the ground tidily. The work is done by trained, qualified people who treat your site with care.

Based in Tonbridge, Kent, we work nationwide for the right project. Get in touch for a free site survey and a clear, fixed quote.

Common questions

Ground drainage, answered.

What does a ground drainage specialist do?
A ground drainage specialist designs and installs the systems that move water away from a site below ground, including land drainage, soakaways, surface-water and foul drainage runs, ducting and service crossings. SFS Groundworks sets out the falls, digs the trenches, lays and connects the pipework and reinstates the ground cleanly on rural, domestic and commercial sites.
What is the difference between a soakaway and land drainage?
Land drainage uses a network of perforated pipes to collect water from waterlogged ground and carry it away, while a soakaway is a buried chamber or crate system that holds surface water and lets it disperse slowly into the surrounding soil. Many sites need both, and we advise on the right mix after a survey and a soil assessment.
Can you install drainage on waterlogged or rural land?
Yes. Wet fields, paddocks, gardens and access tracks are exactly what land drainage is for. We assess the ground, set the falls and lay a piped system or soakaways to dry out the area and keep it usable through the wetter months, with the surface left tidy afterwards.
Do you work nationwide?
We are based in Tonbridge, Kent and work most often across Kent, Sussex and Surrey, but we travel nationwide for the right project. If you are not sure whether we cover your area, just ask.
Are you fully insured and accredited?
Yes. We are CHAS Advanced accredited, CIWM members, first-aid trained, waste carrier licensed and fully insured, with more than 20 years on site.
